Character Name: Kyrie
Character Age: Not given, but likely between 24-25
Character Species: Human
Current Health: Fit and well
Outfit: Kyrie does not physically appear in the game at her canon point and she would likely no longer be wearing her DMC4 outfit which ties into her allegiance with the now defunct Order of the Sword. Using inspiration from concept art, I'm putting her in contemporary clothing in a traditional style; a calf length green skirt, a cream blouse and brown suede loafers. She will also be wearing her pendant.

❥ Folkmore Roles & Attributes

Skills: Compared to the rest of Devil May Cry's cast, Kyrie is very much a vanilla human with no supernatural abilities or fighting skills. However:

- Kyrie is an excellent singer who has a clear soprano voice and is experienced with performing in public.
- She is physically fit and relatively strong as it seems she is able to carry a heavy sword case (although she can't heft it with the ease that a demon-human hybrid shows)
- She's a good cook, but guilty of making too much food almost all the time.
- She can sew and will mend damaged clothing until it can't be mended any more.
Canon Abilities: None that have been demonstrated.
Role: Legend
Role Qualities/Attributes: Kyrie will be a little faster, stronger and tougher than usual (not on a superhuman level) and manifest a literal halo of gold light around her head.
Role Reasoning: In universe, Kyrie is described by Nico the following way and it's a fairly accurate picture of her:
"Every once in a while you'll meet a lady so kind people call her a living saint. Well, I can safely say that in all my years on God's green earth, I ain't never met a girl that fit the bill like this here Kyrie.
These days you can find her looking after the little ones in an orphanage on Fortuna. After all the awful things that went down on that island, it's safe to say she's just about the only thing holding them poor folks together."
She is also shown to be brave, potentially putting herself in mortal danger to protect a child from a demon attack in DMC4.

General Plans:
Kyrie is a fundamentally good and kind-hearted person. She would use her role as a Legend to continue to do good and help people in whatever way she could, just as she has always done. She would find having increased durability and strength useful, as it would mean she's not quite such a squishy human and less likely to become a liability to those she cares about.

❥ What experience challenged your character's core beliefs? How did they handle this or change from it?
The experience that challenged Kyrie's core beliefs - and her religious beliefs at the same time - was learning that she had been raised in a faith that had become corrupted and literally wanted to raise hell. She had been raised all her life to worship Sparda as a god and to consider other demons as unholy and evil; her parents had been killed by demons, she herself had been attacked by demons in Mitis Forest and was quite rightfully fearful of them and considered them evil. As such, learning that the boy she loved was actually part demon was a huge shock to her system but one that caused her outlook on demons. She soon learned after being kidnapped by the Order that they had not been entirely forthcoming with their operations and motivations and was forced to see past their false doctrine and put her trust in her own judgement. Unlike the Order, Nero had never betrayed or failed her and she was able to see that not all demons are evil in the same way that not all humans are fundamentally good.

❥ What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why?
- Although he is no longer part of her life, Kyrie's older brother Credo was an extremely important figure in her life. He took on the role of both brother and parent by raising her after their parents were killed and was her first protector. It is arguable that she tried to be brave like him, even though she didn't lead a militant life in the order, by putting the lives of others ahead of her own as evidenced by her trying to protect children from devils both during the Festival of the Sword attack and the Mitis Forest attack beforehand.

-The most important relationship in her life is with Nero. What started out with her befriending a lost little boy as a child has grown into a deep love that means the world to her. She believes in him and his inherent capacity to be a force for good. It wasn't always this way, her faith in him was severely rattled by the revelation that he was a demon and she thought he had turned on her brother, but upon learning the truth she has been unwavering in her loyalty to him and a supportive partner. They have built a life together, and she is there to support him no matter how far away he might be and to provide him with a home to return to.

❥ If you could give your character a Taylor Swift playlist, which songs would be on it and what would they represent about your character?
A lot of the songs that Kyrie would have on her playlist would be romantic ones that remind her of Nero - I like to imagine her singing and dancing along to them in the kitchen. (There's also nothing post 2019 due to her canon point).
Lover - "I take this magnetic force of a man to be my Lover" - absolutely a declaration of her feelings and intentions towards her boyfriend.
Cruel Summer - a song that reminds her of the early days of their relationship, but there's also too many references to devils, particularly grinning ones, not to make her think of Nero.
Call It What you Want - Devil May Cry 4 and its prequel novel make it clear that Nero has not been the most popular inhabitant in Fortuna. After the city fell and with Kyrie and Nero officially becoming a couple, it's not improbable that their relationship was met with scrutiny. Even Nico - their friend- is critical about it: "Don't know what a sweet girl like that's doing with a punk like him, but hey... ain't none of my business. Different strokes, I reckon." This song is to remind her about things crumbling down around her and people can judge, but she's at home and happy with Nero.


❥ Is your character capable of forgiveness or will they hold a grudge until they die? Would anything ever make them change their mind?
Kyrie has shown herself in canon to be generally forgiving. Despite being raised to believe demons are evil, she is in love with someone with a considerable saturation of demon blood and when she believed that he had harmed her brother, she reacted with confusion and betrayal instead of immediate anger. She has also befriended Nico, who is the daughter of Agnus, the Order member who played a very large part in ensuring she was put in danger to manipulate Nero during the events of Devil May Cry 4; this shows that she doesn't hold a familial grudge.
I think where she would struggle to show forgiveness is if the transgression had the potential to or did actually harm someone she cared about.

Content warnings related to the character: Kyrie's parents were murdered by demons when she was a teen, and her brother was killed when she was slightly older. She was also raised in a cult. Devil May Cry as well is pretty fast and loose with violence and demonic subject matter.
Sensitive subjects related to the character: Harming innocent children, using innocent bystanders as collateral, speaking poorly about her brother, harming Nero.
